Iman ha estado este fin de semana en Madrid, tras dejarse ver por la alfombra roja del Festival de Venecia con un espectacular Valentino para recoger un premio por su activismo. La exmodelo y empresaria, viuda de David Bowie, ha acudido a visitar a su amiga Victoria Melián, fundadora del estudio de decoración e interiorismo Melián Randolph, y pasar un fin de semana en nuestra capital empapándose de moda y cultura.

La modelo se despidió de Venecia En su visita, Iman ha conocido de primera mano el proyecto de moda sostenible de Javier Goyeneche, Ecoalf. Allí no sólo se interesó por este proyecto -uno de los más buscados de nuestro país en el mundo en cuanto a moda sostenible-, "su integridad y su estética" -como contaba en su Instagram, sino que quedó encantada con la comodidad de sus zapatillas. Algo que aprovechó para contar en su cuenta que, hace tres años, sufrió una mala cirugía en un pie "que salió terriblemente mal y, si pudiera, demandaría a ese cirujano".

Y también ha dedicado buena parte de su visita el sábado a visitar la exposición Balenciaga y la pintura española que actualmente exhibe el Museo Thyssen. Allí ha aprendido toda la influencia que nuestro arte tuvo en todas las etapas del modisto y se ha dejado ver posando junto al letrero de la exposición.

The museum is presenting an exhibition that connects the work of Cristóbal Balenciaga, the most admired and influential fashion designer of all time, with the tradition of 16th- to 20th-century Spanish painting. References to Spanish art and culture are a recurring presence in Balenciaga’s work. The simple, minimalist lines of religious habits or the architectural volume of their cloth are to be found in many of his designs. The billowing train of a flamenco dancer’s dress echoed in the flounces on some dresses, the glinting reflections on a bullfighter’s suit, brilliantly conveyed in the sequin embroidery on a bolero jacket, and the aesthetic of Habsburg court dress echoed in black velvets embellished with jet trim in some creations are just a few examples. Balenciaga constantly studied the history of art and made use of these influences, expressed through his own powerful and unique style, throughout his career, including his most avant-garde period, reviving historic garments and reinterpreting them in a strikingly modern manner. The exhibition, curated by Eloy Martínez de la Pera, includes a carefully-selected group of paintings loaned from private Spanish collections and public museums, including the Museo Nacional del Prado and the Museum of Fine Arts of Bilbao. They are accompanied by a group of important creations by Balenciaga -loaned from the Museo Balenciaga in Guetaria, Museo del Traje in Madrid and Museu del Disseny in Barcelona and other international and national private collections- some of them never previously exhibited before. No es la primera vez que Iman acude a nuestra capital a visitar a su amiga. A principios de esta década, Iman fue una de las invitadas de una cena de Acción de Gracias al estilo estadounidense organizada por Melián. Fue un año después después de que Iman lanzase su línea IMAN HOME de decoración (2010), para la que contó como editora invitada con la prestigiosa interiorista madrileña.
